So a few days off, and we’re back on track.  Or so I hope.  And Colonel Haulley, restraining himself, seems to have had a revelation, of sorts.  Gosh, I can’t tell you how good it is to finally start unraveling some of this story now that it’s gotten so wound up.  Not all of it, mind you, but some.

Anyway, to my fellow Americans, I hope you all enjoyed your Independence Day holiday.  If you missed it, there was a little bit of special artwork for the holiday, but you can see it (in hi-res, too!) over at topwebcomics.com as a voting incentive.

As for me, I have another long and very full week ahead of me, now.  And on top of that, it’s buttass hot in the Eastern United States right now.  Not as hot as it used to get when I lived in the Caribbean, but pretty darn hot.  Which is, actually, normal for July in this part of the country, but still, pretty unpleasant.  It makes everything into an enormous physical and mental effort, and can be quite depressing, to boot.  At the same time, site numbers are taking their traditional summer slide, which always makes me have to set my teeth and really commit myself to the comic for its own sake – and recognize that it’s when the readership slides that the people who are sticking around really matter to me a great deal.  So everyone who’s taking the time to keep reading and commenting and spreading with word to people who you think will like the comic: thank you all.  I know I say it all the time, but seriously.  Thank you.  I’m getting terribly busy at work and with about a million other things, and knowing that even just a few people are out there reading, well, that really helps get me into my studio night after night to draw this thing.

Anyhow, I’m hot, tired, and I have to get up early, so I’m turning in.  Until next week, folks, all the best!
